A kite leash is a simple but essential piece of safety kit that keeps you connected to your kite after activating your safety system. Your kitesurfing safety leash is the final link between you and your kite – without it, your kite flies away downwind, becoming a hazard to others and an expensive loss.
Most kite leashes attach to your harness and clip onto the safety line of your bar. When you pull your quick release, the leash holds the kite on a single line so it flags out and depowers completely. Some riders also use a separate board leash to keep their board close during deep water relaunches.
